Pastor Maurice D. Carter
Biography
The visionary and leader for the
Crystal Cathedral, Pastor Maurice Carter founded the ministry in 1994. At
that time his ministry consisted of First Lady Carter and their eldest
child, Joshua Carter. Since then, the Crystal Ministry has quickly
multiplied. In
2003, Pastor Carter established a second Crystal Cathedral in Petersburg,
Virginia. Efforts are presently underway to establish a third location
in Lynchburg, Virginia.
A native of Virginia and a professed
lifetime educator and teacher, Pastor Carter has a number of professional
and educational achievements to his credit. In 1985 he received his
Bachelor's of Science degree in Education from Saint Paul's College in
Lawrenceville, Virginia. Subsequently he went on to pursue a Masters
degree in Public Administration from Ohio State University and an
Endorsement in Education Administration from Longwood University.
Pastor Carter has served in a number of positions as instructor, counselor,
director, assistant principal and principal in public schools and
colleges throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia. Currently, Pastor
Carter also works as an Assistant Superintendent in a school
district in Central Virginia. . He is revered locally and nationally as a dynamic man of
vision, leadership, integrity and compassion.
In addition to his commitment to the
Crystal Ministry as Senior Pastor, Pastor Carter serves in various
positions on numerous boards including; The Education Foundation, Habitat
for Humanity and Executive Assistant to the Western Diocese of the
Church of our Lord Jesus Christ. Pastor Carter is also an author and has
written a research text on Juvenile Gangs in the Mid - West. He
is currently writing a book on pastoring entitled He Leadeth Me
Beside the Still Waters.
Pastor Carter and his wife are the
proud parents of two children, Joshua and Victoria. The couple has also
served as surrogate parents for a number of children in the church and
community.
Pastor Carter attributes his success
to the Lord and to his parents, who raised him in the fear and
admonition of the Lord.
