Dr. Maurice D. Carter, an anointed visionary, and dynamic leader, Bishop Carter established Crystal Cathedral Ministries in 1994, through the leading of the Lord Jesus Christ. In 2003 He planted a second Crystal Cathedral in Hopewell, Virginia, and plans are currently underway to establish a ministry in Lynchburg, Virginia, as well as Louisa, Virginia.
A lifelong professional in the field of education, Bishop Carter has a Bachelor’s of Science in Education, a Master’s in Public Administration, an Endorsement in Education Administration, Counseling, and Superintendent Certification. He has served in a number of positions, including: Adjunct Professor at Southside Community College, and Virginia Union University, Dean of students, and Principal of a high school, and Assistant Superintendent and Superintendent of a central Virginia high school. Currently Bishop Carter holds a Professorship at a local college in addition to being a full time Pastor. He is respected locally and nationally as a dynamic man of vision, leadership, integrity, and compassion.
Bishop Carter and his wife share two biological children, and are surrogate parents to many children in the church, and in the community. God has uniquely blessed the Crystal Cathedral with a leader that strives for excellence in everything he does, while maintaining a servant’s heart for the people of God, and the ministry God has entrusted to him.
