Bishop Dr. Maurice Carter
Dr. Maurice D. Carter, Ed.D, an anointed visionary and dynamic leader, established the Crystal Cathedral Ministry in 1994, through the leading of the Lord Jesus Christ. In 2008, he planted a second Crystal Cathedral in Charlottesville, Virginia. He is the Presiding Bishop of the Virginia Western Diocese of the Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ Apostolic Faith.
A lifelong professional in the field of education, Bishop Carter has a bachelor's degree in Science Education, a master's in Public Administration, and a Doctorate in Education.
He has served in a number of positions, including Professor at Southside Community College, and Virginia Union University, Dean of Students, High School Principal, Assistant Superintendent, and Superintendent. Currently, Bishop Carter holds a Graduate Professorship at a local University in addition to being a full-time Pastor. He is respected locally and nationally as a dynamic man of vision, leadership, integrity, and compassion.
Bishop Carter and his wife share two biological children and are surrogate parents to many children in the church and the community. God has uniquely blessed the Crystal Cathedral with a leader that strives for excellence in everything he does while maintaining a servant’s heart for the people of God, and the ministry God has entrusted to him.
